Can We Talk About...?
May 8, 2017
1) Congratulate yourself for everything you do. Literally everything. Even getting out of bed.
Even showering. Depression has a way of making you feel like a screw-up, no matter what you do.
But remember, if you're still alive, you're winning.
2) Plan something exciting - no matter how small. And then, focus on it nonstop.
It'll give your brain at least a temporary break from all of those depressive thoughts.
3) Stay around people.
A lot of times, depression can make you want to isolate yourself from the world.
The thing is, though, that's the perfect opportunity for your brain to start brooding and making you miserable.
Even though it feels too tiring, it's better to surround yourself with people who could take your mind off of how you're feeling.
It'll help you feel loved and connected (IF they're good people. Obviously, hanging out with haters would defeat the purpose.)
4) Just go out.
Are your friends out of reach? That's ok. Just go out! (Yes, by yourself.)
Even going out alone can give your mind something else to think about besides depressing thoughts.
And, if there's anything that breeds depression, it's sitting around, doing nothing, and seeing the same four walls every day.
Also, there's something about being able to go out by yourself without feeling awkward. It gives you this sense of independence and confidence.
Now, get out there and kick a**!
