Can We Talk About...?
May 19, 2017
By now, I'm sure you guys have heard of DŌ - it's this edible cookie dough bakery in Lower Manhattan.
Being a major foodie, I absolutely had to try this place out, and see if it actually lives up to its hype.
What's it like there?
Now, I will warn you that this isn't the place to go if you are pressed for time, because there is always a line outside of DŌ, and it's a bit long.
This is the kind of thing you do with your friends when you guys don't have anywhere else to be.
But, with that being said, the people who work at DŌ are very efficient about moving the line along - they let people enter in groups of about 5-10. I only waited in line for 15-20 minutes.
And then, once you're in, they take orders conveyor belt style. (Basically like Chipotle, but with cookie dough.)
Is it good?
They have a variety of flavors, but so far I've had red velvet and commanDŌ, which is just plain cookie dough.
They were both pretty good (although they didn't have red velvet the second time I went. Guess that's only a seasonal flavor. Dammit.).
But, the dough is very rich and heavy.
One scoop of cookie dough is more than enough, and I recommend getting it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to counterbalance the richness.
How are the prices?
It really varies, depending on what you order.
For example, if you just get their classic cookie dough scoop or cookie dough/ice cream combo, then one scoop is $4, two scoops is $7, and 3 scoops is $9.
(But, I had trouble even finishing just one cookie dough scoop with ice cream, so I highly doubt you'll need 3 scoops unless you're splitting it with someone.)
As far as their other stuff, the prices range from cheap to not-so-cheap.
See for yourself!
Would you go again?
Hell yea! There is a bit of a wait to actually get into the store, but once you do, it's worth it. A visit to DŌ is a nice, moderately-priced way to treat yourself.
